During the largest global protest of its kind to date, thousands of activists surrounded British Government in London by blocking every approaching road and occupying several bridges.

As thousands of people concerned for the ecological state of planet Earth came together under the decentralised autonomous movement known as XR (short for Extinction Rebellion), over 30,000 activists from all walks of life catapulted the climate and ecological crisis onto central stage.

They did this by bringing the area around government offices in London to a complete standstill through major protests, (this protest in particular).

During the whole action one of the most striking efforts was that of these two activists, who creatively blocked major roads beside Trafalgar Square, London.

The man pictured reading his book stayed on top of that trailer for two whole days in order to stop police removing the very strategically placed road block.

These actions may seem strange, but are undeniably effective at raising awareness and addressing apathy. To face the most significant challenge to our wellbeing in all of human history we will need the world to stop, and change.

The gas mask and hourglass symbolically point to a hard reality for many today, particularly in China, and a rapidly approaching future for all if we do not act now to avert this crisis. This is an issue that affects everybody from the most privileged to the unborn, yet is caused by a tiny few. We need to stop them.

The simple message of this action: Stop the Destruction and Save Planet Earth.
